Located on a quiet street, just off of the beaten path and only one or two blocks to most restaurants, shops, free island shuttle bus, town pier, banks, post office, kayaking, whale watching, bike rentals, grocery, beauty salon and only a few blocks to the YMCA, Kebo Valley Golf course,hiking trails, Acadia National Park and so much more.
The house was built in the early 1920''s and still has most of the original wood work, period furnishings. This location allows all peole staying in the house to go their separate ways if they''d like. It also has off street parking which is a plus in downtown Bar Harbor. The free Island Explorer Shuttle bus allows you to park your car and take the bus. You can even bring your bikes on the bus with you.
Activities: Acadia Nationa Park is at your fingertips. There are bike rentals, kayak rentals, carriage rides. Over 150 miles of hiking trails with each one unique. Over 50 miles of Carriage Roads which do not allow any motor vehicles, making it a safe place to go out biking or walking and not have to be concerned about car traffic. Acadia National Park has well- marked trails (both biking and hiking) and is one of the most beautiful places in the world to be in.
From this house, you can walk to Bar Harbor at low tide, walk the shore path, shop around town, take your bike and bring it with you on the free shuttle bus (The Island Explorer).
Also when the bus is running, you can get off on one side of a moutain, hike across and jump back on a bus to bring you back to Bar Harbor on the other side. No driving or parking for you. Buses run mid to late June until Columbus Day. Bus stop is one block from house.
